A/B test like a pro

Stop guessing. A simple loop for finding the thumbnail that actually wins.

A noob versus a red knight with swords

Even experienced designers are bad at predicting which thumbnail wins. The fix is to test. Roblox's Creator Dashboard offers experiments for thumbnails and icons — use them.

The loop

  • Generate 4–8 concepts in Bloxlabs and pick the 2–3 most different ones.
  • Run them as an experiment until you have enough impressions to trust the result.
  • Keep the winner, then test it against a new challenger.
  • Repeat every few weeks — and every time you ship a major update.

Test big ideas, then details

Early on, test completely different concepts (horror vs. comedy tone, character vs. reward focus). Once you have a winner, test smaller changes like title wording or palette.

Watch more than CTR

A clickbait thumbnail can win clicks and lose players. Watch playtime and retention alongside click-through rate: the best thumbnail brings in players who stay.
